In 2014, Argentina increased its exports by 30 percent. The initial forecast for Argentinean blueberry exports for the season was approximately 17,000 MT. The actual total exports for the 2014 season were 16,500 MT.
Argentina led the early blueberries’ window — August to October — with exports of more than 10,000 tons. With a market share of 80 percent, this put Argentina far ahead of its competitors.
The US is still the largest importer of Argentinean blueberries, buying more than 60 percent of our product. Most of the US blueberry shipments were also transported by air this past season. The chart below compares leading importers including the UK, Europe, Canada and others.
